Boys and girls from 12 playgrounds will compete for team and individual laurels in the Joseph E. Lee track and field meet planned at Belmont park Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in honor of the founder of the national playground system. The program will include nine sprint races, a relay race for boys and several field events. Winners of the top three positions in each) event will receive ribbons and the Makay Betty trophy will be awarded to the championship team. Competition is planned for “midgets” under 12 years, juniors under 14 years, intermediates under 16 years and seniors. The playgrounds eligible for the meet are Bethel, Northwestern, Douglass, Hill, Norwood, Camp Sullivan, Flanner House, Belmont, Cornelius, Lockefield, Ross Claypool and Meikel. Officials will be Ed Denny, George Sprague, Anthony Watkins, Edward Clay, Albert Booth, Abe Thacher, Jesse Francis, Lee Bess and seweral playground supervisors.
