According to the law, these men are not eligible for GI rights. But many of them had Jheir disabilities aggravated. by the service. Long hours of drilling would make weak legs worse, for instance.

In most cases, the army tried to give such men discharges which would rake them eligible for the benefits of the GI bill, even though they served less than 90 days. But the army made mistakes, and many men whose disabilities were aggravated were released with discharges which didn't make them eligible. The thing for these men to do is to apply to the veterans administration for a ruling on whether of not their disabilities are serviceconnected, If VA rules that they ure, these veterans can apply to the army for a change of discharge which will make thenr “eligible for GI benefits. The army usually takes the VA's word for it that a man’s disability is service-conneeted, and changes his discharge on that basis.
