Northwest Area.

| Negotiations were underway to- | day to purchase 120 acres on the near northwest section of Indian-| apolis to supplement sites for the city’s emergency housing project. Payment of one-half of $500,000 in tax funds yesterday will enable the | city redevelopment commission to start on its top slum clearance program. A substandard residential district, the area under consideration for | phase is bounded by 10th, 16th and N. West sts. and Fall creek. Parkway Building Seen | Long eyed as a park and riverside driveway, the northern portion ol "the area is sought by the city park |departmeht and flood control board, | which will share purchase and development costs of the land. Estimated at $56,000, the par board's share would enable the de- | partment to construct a riverfront ————— parkway between 10th and 16th sts. to join Fall Creek blvd. | City Engineer Thomas R. Jacobi, | chairman of the flood control board, disclosed estimated cost for his board would be $87,000 to permit army engineers to build flood walls along the right-of-way. | Allocattonr of $250,000 is the first, received by the commission under a 1945 state act authorizing a 10-

fe

cent levy for operations. Included in the 10946 city budget, the other $250,000 will be received in De- | cember.

Clearance of the northern section of the land is being made to permit rapid home construction there, commission members explained. A “free enterprise” plan rather than tax-subsidized, all sub-stand-ard properties will be purchased and razed with home sites being) resold to families, the commission revealed Flanner House and the American Friends society are developing plans to train male members to construct their own houses Meanwhile, Mayor Tyndall's emergency housing advisory committee announced a public meeting at 2 p. m. July 11 to report on availability of lumber and other housing material.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TAX PROBLEMS YOUR ESTATE WILL PRESENT?

Many men and women whe own securities or other

property are net aware that tax problems are cers

tain to arise when their estates are administered, unless they take stops now to prevent them. Usually these steps are not difficult —once an

attorney, aceountant or trust man has pointed them

out. But if a person does not realize that they exist,

he naturally has pe incentive to act.

Do you know, for instance, the pitfalls of the “simple Will"—of joint ownership of prop- . erty—of family business interests ? To acquaint men and women with some of these signals for action, published

“Eleven Actual Cases,”

we have

a booklet by an outstand-

ing tax authority. These are case histories of people

who planned their estates without adequate infor

mation — the trouble this led to—and suggestions

for more effective planning.

We shall be glad to send you a copy of this

booklet without obligation or you may obtain a

copy at our Trust Department. Reading it may save

your family a substantial amount, if you find that

one of the eleven problems is your own.
