They may go on the stage. “They'll pop right in there behind the Kleig lights, like Orson Welles, if you tell Jules Denes about them. Mr, Denes, a Hungarian playwright, opens a psychodramatic theater at the Barbizon plaza playhouse on July 10 and it'll center around the things that make Joe a heel instead of a hero. Why did he come home and sock the little woman with an army boot? Why did he throw stones at his grandmother, or put water in his cousin's beer? “We'll tell them that and more,” Jules explained. “Only it won't be plays exactly, but dramatic presentations.” You come to the theater as a patient. You tell your case history. A psychiatrist sums it up, and professional actors show you exactly how yolt look when you're doing the strange things you do. Mr. Denes thinks his plan may aid in ousting an unruly psyche, or Dr. William Karliner, a Park
avenue psychiatrist, is one of the

experts who will. work with Denes. “It won't cure anyone,” Dr, Karliner said, “but it at least will make some neurotics mere conscious of the nature of their conflict. The program will be divided into three parts. First will come the dramatic presentations, while an audience of neurotics sits back to watch. Then psychiatrists will explain just what causes the man in the play to act the way he does. Finally the neurotics will get a chance to ask questions and, if they wish, they can relate thelr experiences and join the act. “We expect to reach a great many more people through this medium than is possible in our ordinary work,” Mr. Karliner said. “No intelligence will be required to grasp such visual impact. The patient can just sit back and watch. We'll carry the ball for him.” Mr. Denes said the first show would be for a picked audience of scientists and professionals, but after that anyone could join in. “We don't expect to make any money,” he insisted. That is, not unless they get a nod from radio.
