Congregationalists Indorse Integration

GRINNELL, Iowa, June 22 (U. P.) ~The general council of Congregational Christian churches today condemned the “sin of racial segregation.”

The council, which passed a resolution calling for “integration in our Christian churches and our democratic society of all persons of whatever race, color or ancestry,” planned an inquiry into all denominational agencies of the Congregational church to discover segregation or discrimination. Prof. Buell Gallagher, Berkeley, Cal, chairman of the inter-relations committee, said that the 10-point resolution would “promote with uncompromising word and purpose the proposed integration.” First Definite Action

Appointments Will Be Revealed Tomorrow

The Indiana Methodist conference will come to its.close with a service of ordination and the reading of appointments of ministers to churches at the 2:30 p. m. session tomorrow. Ministers and laymen from the southern half of the state have been in attendance at the conference which opened Tuesday. Bishop Titus Lowe of the Indianapolis area has been in charge. Among the eight deacons to be ordained tomorrow is the Rev. James Earl Perry of Indianapolis. Eight elders also will be ordained. A traditional love feast at 9:15 a.m. tomorrow will open the conference's final day. Bishop Lowe will preach at 10:15 a. m. on “The Very Heart of the Gospel.” Tonight, young people of the city will present the pageant, “Righteousness Exalteth a Nation.” The pageant stresses the thought that
