Survey Shows Married Gls Are Hardest Hit.

WASHINGTON, June 10 (U P.).—The governmeént today came up with figures to prove what everybody already knew: married

finding homes. And those”that do, the government said, often pay more than they had planned. The veterans administration followed up 3000 typical enlisted men discharged last December. After four months, VA found, less than 40 per cent of the married group had found adequate places to live. The figure included many who merely came back to homes that wives or relatives had never given

up. Only 14 per cent had found new living quarters. Cite Housing Needs Striking differences were found between living arrangements the veterans anticipated and those they finally acquired, the national housing agency reported in making the survey public. NHA%said the report emphasized an acute need for speeding construction under the veterans emergency housing program. The federal public housing authority reported that 199,200 temporary emergency dwelling units fo: veterans and servicemen had been allocated to schools and commun-

ities. Approximately 100,000 went to crowded colleges. * TT, (Advertisement)
