bread or a cracker, one small bowl of soup—nothing more. | In a more balanced meal, if the) following measurements are care-| fully observed, the calorie content will be about 500, a maximum ration for the main meal of millions: One slice of bread; *¢ cup of | cooked beans (dried, lima or navy) or one egg; one medium potato; one cup of raw cabbage; 3 cup | cooked greens; one tablespoon fat; and % cup of milk. “In order that our experience of sharing may be honest and complete, the other meals eaten on this Sunday should not be ‘padded’” officials remind the congregations. “These meals should not be heavier but lighter, “No food whatsoever should be eaten between or after the meals. “Place an empty chair at the table for the imaginary guest who represents all who are hungry.” In some communities, it is expected that families will gather in the church dining room after Sunday services to eat their Compassion day meal. But in most cases, the observances are planned for individual homes. The church has printed leaflets outlining Compassion day worship services for the church and the home. Among the listed hymns, readings and scriptures is this quotation coming from the words of Christ: “I was an hungered and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty and ye gave me drink: . .

Two of the modern phases in Christian education will be dis-| cussed by Indianapolis men at the annual convention of the Indiana Council on Christian Education Tuesday through Thursday, in Shelbyville. The Rev. F, A. Pfleiderer, administrator of weekday classes in religious education for school children on release time in Indianapolis and the county, will give an address on “Week Day Religious Education” Tuesday afternoon. The convention will present a visual education program conducted by Brunson Motley Wednesday night. Mr. Motley is a local business man who has promoted
visual education, especially religious films and slides, in Indianapolis.

The Butler School of Religion summer segsion announces a special course for persons interested in week-day religious education. Several local lecturers will be featured in the course.
