MON PETIT JUDGE,

The Chrysler program featuring Andre Kostelanetz and his orchéstra closes shop for the summer tonight at 8. When Kostelanetz brings his baton down and around for the final beat, he intends to hit the road for overseas where he hopes to conduct concerts in England, Sweden, Denmark and France. Back for another appearance in order to help Andre pack up in a really high class manner will be his wife, Lily Pons. She will sing several numbers especially adapted for her voice, 'way up in the stratosphere. #8 8 ® = = The Columbia network shows carried over WFBM seem to have

taken unto themselves an interesting hobby. It doesn’t have any par- (1 tioular name, I suppose, but comes under the heading of “Award TRY Tar NUMBER. Gathering.” Last night, for example, “Great Moments in Music” L WAS hn! copped the operatic top prize in the “Musical America” radio poll. Tonight at 7:30, “FBI In Peace And War” adds another trophy to the Columbia mantlepiece by winning first place honors given by The Women's National Radio Committee. The ladies say the boys deserve | it because the program -did the best job of “tending to promote racial tolerance, international understanding, and an - intelligent grasp of the complex social problems of the post war world.” That's biting off quite & hunk, and the fellow far, far back in the studio corner mainly responsible for it all is Max Marcin. All Max does on the show is | write and produce it, that's all. Tonight, by the way, the G-Men tangle | with a gang of international crooks. Incidentally, to show you the| trend of the times, my boy doesn't wear his Junior G-Man badge any more. He's now sporting the emblem of an organization for young squirts devoted to “Nuclear And Atomic Energy As Applied To The Motivation Of A Yo-Yo.”

Bmith's Show” last night will be heard this evening on that breezy, | entertaining 15-minute show at 6:15 from Hollywood. Betty Lou will sing a special duet with the guy named Smith. Mr. Riggs will be alone bo collect the pay check, : : ” n ~ » n ” The new audience participation show, “That's Life,” will be back again at’ 9:30 tonight to prove that people have more fun than ‘anybody. It was heard for the first time last week, with J. C. Flippen master-minding the proceedings. In case you missed the shenanigans at that time, people in the audience are picked to participate in such little dramas of daily life as (1.) People who receive traffic tickets, (2.) Complaints - against parents, (3.) Newlywed mistakes. Speaking with authority, the only advice I can give newlyweds is simply—DON'T, o n o " » ~ . If you happen to be one of those wage slaves who must be up and around at the unmerciful hour of 7:30 tomorrow morning, Sam Sims guarantees that he can shove you out into the cruel, harsh world with a whistle—and just the thing to whet it. Sam spins the discs daily for the local “Top of the Morning” feature sponsored by Ayres and says that tomorrow's show will have Charlie Barnett, Harry James and good old T. D. (Using initials like that show® how spiffy I can be. It's the tie the little woman gave me for Xmas that does it.)
