Ironing Technique.

Are Called for With’ Rayon Fabrics

IRONING 18 A FINE ART—but an art that anyone can master | by following a few simple pointers.

|

Too many of us make the mistake

of using the same technique for everything we iron. Now that so many.

of our clothes and household articles are made entirely or partially:

of rayon, it's wise to find out how rayons should be ironed.

Health Danger In Unapproved Water Supply

By JANE STAFFORD Science Service Staff Writer THE FIRST hot days of early summer tempt many children homeward-bound from school to dive «into the nearest stream or swimming hole. Parents should warn their children, and remember themselves when similarly tempted, that typhoid fever and other dangers may lurk in the streams. This is especially true of those in or on the edges of towns and cities which use the streams for industrial wastes and sewage. You cannot always tell by looking at it whether "or not water is- polluted. Polluted water can look safe, smell safe and taste delicious and yet be as dangerous as a drink of poison. Just because the water bubbles from a spring or runs in a fairly swift current down the stream does not mean that it is safe, either for drinking or for swimming, # » »

MANY HEALTH departments,

Remember that rayon is not just one fabric, but a whole family of fabrics. The degree of dampness

Crepes and Spun Rayon

IN IRONING washable rayon] crepes, use a moderately hot iron. The fabric should be almost dry to the touch. Wrap rayon crepes in a towel right after washing, to take out excess moisture evenly and prevent dripping to the hem.

Remove from the towel immediately, and hang on a hanger. Don't use too much pressure with your iron, and be careful not to pull
