PASSED BY HOUSE
WASHINGTON, May 24 (U. P). | —The house yesterday passed and! sent to the senate legislation to maintain and expand the federal-
The legislation was approved previously in different forms by the house and senate. It had been before a conference committee for elimination of differences in the two versions. The house originally approved $50,000,000 for the federal government’s share of the program. The conference committee removed this limitation and authorized the agriculture department to ‘use such sums as neceSsary, The conference measure retains 8 house provision authorizing $10,000,000 for federal assistance in expanding the program. The legislation now ‘provides for federal-state expenditures on a $1 for $1 basis from July 1, 1946, through the fiscal year 1950, From fiscal 1951 through 1955, the federal government would pay $1 for each $1.50 expended by the states and therafter $1 for each $3 spent by the states.

was held for homicide today. Louis J, Nehemias told police | that he and PEdward " Lang, another 17-year-old office boy, were playing with two revolvers which they found in a desk at tHe Franklin Railway Supply Co. where they both work. Nehemias said that Lang put a’ single bullet in one gun and began. twirling the cylinder and pulling the trigger, pretending to play the Russian game, in it, one gambles one’s life on the odds of 5 to 1 that the revolver hammer will strike an empty chamber rather than the bullet. Lang was very successful at the game for the gun did not go off. Finally, Nehemias told police, Lang laid the gun down and he picked it up, aimed it at Lang.and pulled the trigger. The gun went off. The bullet entered Lang's back near his spine, killing him ' almost instantly, “I thought the bullet was in |
