Disabled Men’

WASHINGTON, May 24—Here are the minimum monthly rates of subsistence which will be paid to disabled veterans who are taking or who plan to take some kind of job-training: : If a veteran has ne dependents, the minimum is $105.

If he has one dependent, the minimum is $115. An additional $10 is paid for the first child, $7 for each additional child, and $15 for a dependent parent. May Receive More

There has been much confusion over these rates. They are the minimums. A veteran may get more, ‘depending upon the degree of his disability. The confusion results from the payment of a pension and of a subsistence allowance at the same time, ; The subsistence allowance is $65 a month for a disabled veteran without dependents while he is in training, or $00 a month if he has one or more dependents, and both are payable in addition to disability pensions. If the disability pension plus the subsistence allowance of a dis abled veteran in training is less] than $105 a month, ‘the minimum, of $1056 a month for a veteran without dependents, or of $115 and upwards for a veteran with one or more dependents, is payable,

It has asked congress to provide this. Many disabled veterans have hesitated to ‘quit jobs they have and £0 to school because they fear they won't be able to support themselves | on the money they will get from | VA. This is keeping many of them back from opportunities they would | otherwise get. a
