|HOME SHOW TO HOLD CAMERA CONTEST
An amateur photography contest for visitors to the Indianapolis Home Show was announced today by J. Frank Cantwell, managing director of the show. Awards amounting to $50 in cash and ribbons will be made for the best camera studies of the exposition, which closes Sunday. Entries should be original and unique. First prizé will be $25, second $15, and third, $10. Entries in the contest should be sent to the downtown office of the show at 1207 Security Trust building not later than May 22. Mr. Cantwell was honor guest today at the luncheon of the Indianapolis real estate board at the exposition. He has conducted the home show since it was originated in 1922.

Intruder Flees Home of ; “Mother and Daughter.
A mother and her high school daughter who had decided what they would do if thieves tried to
would-be burglar who had been “casing” their neighborhood the last week. Mrs. Ro Schad, of 2057 Highland pl, one shot which sent the burglar running. Her daughter, Merna, 16, a student at St. John's academy, who was talking with her mother when they heard the burglar, attracted the intruder's attention while her mother got ready to shoot at him. > Hears Burglar The mother and daughter were in Mrs. Schad’s bedroom at about 10:30 last night, discussing plans for building a new home. Through an open window that faces the rear of the house, Miss Schad heard someone moving about. She kept up the conversation because both she and her mother were in view of the window, but signalled to her mother. Moving swiftly along a plan they had made after prowlers began infesting the area a year ago, she chatted along as she located a flashlight.

Intruder Flees
She stopped suddenly and flashed the light out the window. Its beam flashed on & man who was attempting to enter through the rear of the house. She fired one shot and the man fled. Police searched the neighborhood but failed to find him. Mrs. Schad said the man was the same one who had climbed a tree and tried to pry open a window on a neighbor's house Tuesday night. He fled then when he was seen.
TRANSFER OF FIRE FUNDS TO BE URGED
Upon recommendation of Fire Chief Harry H. Fulmer the safety) board will recommend transfer of $10,000 from the fire department equipment fund to repair and medical funds in that department
to the city council Monday. Chief Fulmer stated these funds) had been cut in the budget last year and urged the transfer of $8000 to repair funds and $2000 to firemen’s medical fund. | The safety board today also 2s sured the fraternal order of police and firemen that demands for wage increases from a minimum of $2400 and $3000 is being considered in| the preparation of next year’s budget.
| INCREASE IN TRAFFIC
FINES RECOMMENDED
Increases in traffic fines for 10 | violations will be recommended by | the safety board in an effort to | curb reckless driving in Indianap- | olis. Upon the recommendation of | Municipal Court Judges Joseph | Howard and John L.
