meaning than is apparent in the many. and varied séntimental gestures the day brings forth. This thought wa« suggested by

series of sermons on “The Impact

of Psychology on Modern Life.” Dr. Backus is the minister of All Souls Unitarian church. Churches and Sunday school classes and many persons in their homes will honor “mother” on her day, tomorrow. In paying tribute to | motherhood, or to parenthood, acknowledgement is made of all those things that help to make “good fathers and mothers.” In this con-| nection Dr. Backus is quoted: | “Were I writing the Ten Com- | mandments,” he remarks, “I should | include right along with the fourth | which says ‘Honor thy father and! thy mother,’ another which should read, ‘Honor thy children.’ “Indeed if anything this latter is more basic than the former, and if due heed were given to it, if parents did sufficiently honor thelr | children, striving always for that] which will serve them best, we may be well assured that the result would be children who grow up to
