POLIO IS STARTING EARLY IN FLORIDA
© BY Sclencé Service WASHINGTON, May 9.—Florida, Georgia and Alabama may be facing infantile paralysis epidemics this summer, though it is too early in the pollo season for definite indications. The fact that these states have been, spared serious outbreaks for the past few years may be one count against them. Florida already has had 77 cases reported since the first of the year. This is the highest figure for any state except California which: has had 114 cases so far this year, New York state with 59 cases and Texas with 45 are other high polio states. The measles epidemic which has been attacking 35000 to 40,000 youngsters a week this spring is due to slacken shortly.
New officers of the Creston 4-H club elected recently were Dolores Warriner, president; Lois Hamilton, vice president; Anna Mae Wehmeir, secretary; Beverly Jackson, song leader; Janice Helt, games chairman; Suzanne Gilbert, reporter, and Patty Owens, treasurer.
“The Polka Panama,” a new dance step, will be demonstrated by Miss Eileen Postor to teen-agers at the Brookside recreation center, 16th and Olney sts, Sunday at 4 p.m. A meeting of canteen presidents at 3 p.m. will precede the demonstration. Also on the schedule is a
