FOR PROVIDING a-right-out-of-the-tub look, and feel, of spanking clean freshness, nothing equals cottons for summer wear. Knowing this, Ayres’ and 59 other big stores in the country, in co-operation with Good Housekeeping magazine, are presenting this month a selection of duds which the magazine calls “Cottons Worth, Picking.” op Fn EACH AND every one of the 45 garments (ranging from sizes for the smallest fry to sizes for their youthful mothers) has been ‘ested by the magazine's textile laboratory for shrinkage and color fastness. ; And each garment, passing the test, carries the magazine's “facts-first” fashion tag which means that residual shrinkage (after repeated laundering or dry-cleaning) will be less: than 1 per cent and that colors will stand up under both sunlight and suds.

” ou ” IT TOOK a lot of manufacturers and a lot of fabric (750,000

the garments required by the 60 stores joining in the style promotiorr ‘ " At Ayres’ they'll be found all over the store—in collegienne, sports and topper shops, in the gown room, and in the children's, girls’ apd sub-deb departments. Stripes, plaids, prints (see the ice cream cone print) and unfigured fabrics are all included in the lineup, and ,colors range from cool sherbet shades to dark tones for citified suits and dresses like those pictured.
