Churches In City Reflect Day's Hope
Story of ‘Resurrection Emphasizes Cause
To Give Thanks.
By EMMA RIVERS MILNER Times Church Editer
“He is not here but risen—" “Very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher. ., .., And they found the stone rolled away. « « « Two men in shining garments » « « Said unto them: “He is not here but risen—* Thus in part, runs the description of the actual resurrection in the simple, stately words of the Bible.
Many niinisters in Indianapolis and the world and great numbers of laymen are speaking of the unparalleled cause for thanksgiving tomorrow. This Easter, 1946, such frequent mention is being made of the newly found peace that the sound of the phrases seems to wrap the earth in one vast refrain of joy. The stone is indeed rolled away from the sepulcher—the stone of world war IL
Perfect Meaning
Indianapolis churches tomorrow will abound in incidents to warm the heart and reflect the happy meaning of the day. An illustration of this will be the afternoon service to which little children of the St. Paul's Episcopal Sunday school will bring their mite boxes. These contain pennies and nickels which might have been spent for ice cream cones and lollipops. Instead, the money will go to foreign countries, to the mission fields where hospitals, schools and Sunday schools have been destroyed by war. Growing flowers in pastel colors will be given as memorials to decorate the Olive Branch Christian church for its Easter services. The plants, wrapped in white tissue paper to symbolize Easter, are being deposited in the church today to save confusion tomorrow.
Choir te Sing Cheston Heath, organist and choirmaster of Christ Episcopal church on the circle, will escort his choir of 50 men and boys to Robert Long, Riley and Coleman hospitals tomorrow morning to sing
first Easter since 1941 the choir has performed this service. At the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church, the membership will give its first offerings for the new church building, during the Easter services. New members will be received, as in many churches, and Holy Communion celebrated,
