MAYOR CONFERS WITH CI0 HEADS
Sanitation Work Workers May Not Pass AFL Pickets. (Continued From Page One)
Teamsters’ union, stated that the strike was called yesterday because of Mayor Tyndall's “consistent refusal” to meet with union representatives to discuss recognition of the union as a bargaining unit for the city street cleaning employees. Mayor Tyndall reiterated that he has no legal authority under Indiana law to recognize a labor union representing city hall employees. With elaborate plans for the annual clean-up week scrapped, Galen H. Parks, chairman of the mayor's clean-up committee, said he hoped to confer with the city administration later this week on what aid the city could possibly offer in the campaign.
AX MURDER PROBE BAFFLES SHERIFF
WASHINGTON, Ind., April 16 (U. P.).—A solution to the brutal axslaying of Mrs. Mildred Morgan, 46, still was sought today by Daviess county authorities.
Sheriff Alvin C. Armes said the slain woman's husband, Arthur, 70, who was hacked on the head by the same weapon which. killed his wife, remained in a critical condition in a hospital. “He’s not able to talk coherently yet,” Armes said. “We get up to a certain point in the story and then he forgets what he was telling us. But he seems to give the impression that Someone else was there.” - Mrs. Morgan's body was found in their burning home. It was charred beyond recognition but a dental check resulted in positive identification. Coroner Walter 8S. Williams still was investigating the case but said she apparently was dead before the fire since no smoke was found in her lungs. Morgan was discovered in a ditch behind the house. Pour of 11 ax cuts penetrated the skull. A five-

angriest and bitterest Big Three debates since the council moved to the new world. U. 8. Delegate Edward R. Stettinius Jr. and Soviet Delegate Andrei A. Mr. Stettinius flatly repudiated Mr. Gromyko's charge that the U. 8. was acting in bad faith and indirectly accused Russia of using her troops in Iran to force a lastminute reversal of thdt country’s position. Mr. Gromyko rejoined that Mr. Stettinius still was sacrificing - logic “to inflate and prolong the Iranian dispute.”

What Is Wrong When Prayer Fails?
Thirty years ago, in Forbidden Tibet, behind the highest mountains in the world, a young Englishman naved Edwin J. Dingle found
the answer to this question. A great mystic opened his eyes. A great change came over him. He realized the strange Power hp Knowledge gives. That power, he says, can transform the life of anyone. Questions, whatever they are, can be answered. e problems of health, death, povy and wrong, can bei solved. In his own case, he was brought back to splendid health. He acquired wealth, too, as well as worldwide professional recognition. Thirty years ago, he was sick as a man could be and live. Once his coffin was bought. greatest mystic he ever encountered during his twenty-one years in the Far. East. He wants everyone to experience the greater health and the Power, which there came to him.
Within ten years, he was able to retire to this country with a fortune. He had been honored by fellowships in the World's leading geographical societies, for his work as a geographer. = And today, 30 years later, he is still so athletic, capable of so much work, so young in appearance, it is hard to believe he has lived so long. As a first step in this progress toward‘'the Power that Knowledge gives, Mr. Dingle wants to send to readers of this paper a 9,000-word treatise. control issue was squarely in the middle of a tug-of-war between two Republican factions. In Indianapolis, the split is between the Marion county Republican organization and the anti-or-ganization elements opposed to the party status quo for a number of varying reasons. In the past, Mayor Tyndall has been the titular head of Marion county “antis.” However, with a similar G. O. P. feud raging throughout Indiana, it appeared probable the county antiwith other disgruntled Hoosier Reagainst current leadership. See Jenner as Target The “antis” have tossed the liquor control squabble into the political arena as a “hot potato” calculated to stimulate interest in the primary. One of the chief targets of the anti-organization forces probably will be former Republican State Chairman Willlam E. Jenner, now a candidate for U., 8 senator. A special meeting of the Marion county council, scheduled for Satur-
speculation. It is believed the session may have been called for the purpose of accepting the resignation of County Liquor Board President Thomas Kercheval, a rumored prediction for the past month.
DAWSON QUESTIONS
STARK ON ‘BOSSISM’
James M. Dawson, attorney seeking the Republican nomination for prosecutor, today issued a statement, attacking the campaign tactics of Judge Judson L. Stark, also seeking the G. O. P. prosecutor nomination. Mr, Dawson charged that Judge Stark, while attacking the “dictatorship” of County G. O. P. Chairman Henry E. Ostrom, was turning to “bossism” himself in his campaign for the prosecutor nomination. “If his (Judge Stark) tirade against bossism is sincere why should he rush to the arms of Sheriff Otto W. Petit and seek his support and favors for the nomination for prosecutor,” Mr. Dawson said.

Plans reported to Mr. Summers, he said, include a formal request’ that the United States government impound the gold, if it is recovered, until ownership can be determined in the courts. Mr. Williamson meanwhile awaited in the Florida keys for the wind and waves to subside enough for the search to be resumed. He. located the treasure ship, the “Santa Rosa,” Saturday in 146 feet of water. Mr, Summers said he had not been able to inform Mr. Williamson of the latest development—which may be an ironical working of the curse placed on the stolen gold by the Aztec chieftain Montezuma in 1520. Other Expeditions Failure The “Santa Rosa” sailed from Mexico in June of that year, with the treasure paid as ransom for the life of the chief. The intricacies of admiralty law, and the laws of salvage, may make it possible for a Mexican claim to stand up, Mr. Summers reported. He emphasized, however, that Mr, Williamson was the first to find the vessel, to identify it as the treasure ship. He has for five years
