June Duprez Gets a Break

Pretty British . Brunet to Work With Stars.

By JACK GAVER United Press Staff Correspondent NEW YORK, April 11.—Pretty Bruriet June Duprez, rather rough time of it in Holly=~ wood for several years, has a contract today which will give her one of the most coveted Broadway stage opportunities next fall, The 28-year-old American actress who was born and reared in England, will be working in the exalted company of Eva Le Gallienne, Walter Hampden, Margaret Webster and Victor Jory. to mention the headliners of the American Repertory theater, Miss Duprez, stepping into what should be one of Broadway's real prestige spots, has been signed not just to a contract but to a longterm contract, which shows what the ‘art powers think of her possibilities for leading roles in the group of six plays which will constitute the first season. Before the war the actress had an auspicious start via English films, appearing for Sir Alexander Korda in “Four Feathers” and “The Thief of Baghdad.” Korda brought her here to make some of the scenes of the latter film and Holly-

jected. She got her first break in 1944) when her British accent enabled her to land one of the two important roles in “None but the Lonely Heart.” Last year she had the heroine's part in “Ten Little Indians.” She still isn't in the Hollywood star class, but you can give odds that if she gets even half
