W. J. Hogan Was Nationally Known Transfer Executive.
William J, Hogan, Columbia club, nationally known warehousing executive and founder of Hogan
Transfer & Storage Co., died today at Methodist hospital. He was 73. A native of Chillicothe, O., Mr. Hogan spent his early years in Columbus, O., and moved to Indianapolis in 1892. He established the transfer company that year, selling his interest in 1911. In 1909 he became manager and later president of the Indiana Terminal & Refrigerating Co., the position he held at thé time of his death. He was #l1so chairman of the board of directors of National Terminals Corp., which he had organjzed in 1929 to own and operate warehouse properties in Cleveland, Chicago, East Chicago and Indianapolis, : Mr. Hogan was a member of the First Baptist church, Ancient Landmarks Lodge No, 319, F. & A. M,, the Indianapolis Board of Trade, and the Columbia club, where he maintained his residence for the past few years. Mr. Michaels was a first lieutenant in World war I serving with ithe famed Second Division. He was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart and Distinguished Service Cross. He also was awarded the * Croix de Guerre from the French government, He was a member of Fairview Presbyterian’ church, Zerebatha Masonic lodge, Scottish Rite, Sahara Grotto, St. Joseph Lodge of Perfection, St. Joseph, Mo.; Irvington post’ of the American Legion, Ralph Barker post of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Indianapolis Passenger Traffic club.
