District “Manager Expects Data From Washington,
Albert O. Evans, newly appointed district construction office manager of the Civilian Production Administration, announced today that his office next week will be able to answer some of numerous questions Being asked about the government's non-essential construction proclamation. . . COPA lawyers are still wrestling with the order in Washington and should complete their study soon, Mr. Evans said. . The Civilian Production Administration, successor to the defunct war production board, will be charged with the responsibility of producing and channeling building materials for construction other than housing. It hopes to curb non-essential construction and di-| rect the building industry to help) the ex-serviceman's housing prob-| lem. | The office here will deal only with| construction matters in CPA's field and will not handle any other CPA activity. Local conditions will be taken into account in making decisions and on the essentiality of nonhousing construction projects -advice will be given by an area committee of representative citizens, Appeals may be made to Washington.
