ELECTION FIGHT

Group Outlines Issues for

Campaign. By NOBLE REED The Political Action Committee of the C. I. O. has reorganized its precinct machinery and outlined issues for a bigger campaign in politics than it waged .here two years ago, Reorganization of the Marion county P, A, C. was completed at a meeting last night with Clarence Lyons heading chairman and director. The committee first will concentrate on precinct work to nominate candidates for the legislature who are favorable to labor's program and to elect delegates to the state Republican convention who will support Rep. Charles LaFollette for the senatorial nomination. May Change Support “Our campaign to support Rep. LaPFollette for the senatorial nomination does not mean necessarily that we would support him in the fall election if he were nominated,” explained Walter Frisbie, executive sectetary of the state P. A. C. “If the Democrats nominate a candidate for senator who may be regarded as better qualified to support labor's program, the committee might switch to the Democrat even if LaFollette is the ‘nominee,” he sald. C. I. O. leaders indicated that the only two Democrats now in the lineup for the senatorial nomination who would be considered by the P. A. C. are Fowler Harper, In-

“@. 1. Acres,” a direct solution to the veterans’ housing. problem, was on its way to becoming a reality today. ¢ Unable to buy or rent homes, 100 veterans, mostly in the Brightwood and Northeast Indianapolis district, are purchasing a 25-acre tract of land east of Washington park. They plan to develop it into a residential community on a co-operative basis. Group chairman Richard Trittipo of 2920 N. Olney st., said the group will hold the acreage under a corporate plan until each and every G. I. purchaser receives his clear deed to his own lot. Lots are staked out 40 by 160 feet. Lots $25 Aplece The new subdivision lies between E. 30th and 32d sts. between LaSalle and ‘Olney sts. With aid they hope to get from the city, the veterans plan to lay out five streets: LaSalle, Stuart and Adams running north and south and E, 31st and Cedwick sts, running east and west. Lots have been sold for $325 aplece, Mr. Trittipo said. ‘The group which calls itself the “G, I. Housing club” was organized in De- |

Townsend, former Democratic gov ernor. Outline Platform C. I. O. officials have outlined the following platform that candidates must support before they will be backed by the P. A, C.: ONE: International co-operation with complete support of the United Nations Organization and the Bretton Woods monetary agreement. TWO: Civilian control of atomic energy. : THREE: Complete support of price controls, especially rents and food, so long as shortages exist. * FOUR: Support for administration of the Wyatt national housing program. FIVE: Support for the minimum wage blll in congress. SIX: Extension of social security benefits’

I. either to build or resell his lot to another veteran at the price he paid for it. Club members hope to build their homes for about $5000 apiece by. working co-operatively. They hope to save street costs by hiring their own bulldozer and cutting through streets themselves. The organization already has formed Northeast Post 389, American Legion, at the Northeast Community center where meetings are held. launch a campaign immediately to get thousands of voters back on the registration rolls before the April 8 deadline in order that they can cast votes in the May 7 primary. C. I. O. officials said this is part of a drive to get more voters to the polls in the primary election and thus prevent hand-picking of nominees by political machine bosses. P. A. C. leaders are considering backing a complete slate of candi-
