High School, Vaudeville Set For March 28, 29.
“Ripples of 1946” will be pre-{
sented March 28 and 29 by the students of Broad Ripple high school.
Acts of the vaudeville are “Soda Jerk's Fancy” by Jeanne Wilson and Joyce Birsfield; Cut-Ups” by Joan Freyn and Nancy Shelby; “Rockets Cavalcade” by Margaret Curtis, and “On the Air” by Dick Kreusser and Charles Jacobs. ; Faculty sponsors are Owen Beckley, Miss Elizabeth Johnson, Miss Miriam King, Hubert Wann, Mrs, Ruth B, Herin, Mrs, Eleanor Williamson and Sterling Shaw. The faculty committee includes Miss Margaret Coombs, Miss King, Miss Mary L. Connor and Edgar Stahl. Mr. Stahl, vice principal of Broad Ripple, is director of the show, .
Honors were awarded to Ayleen Wright and Vernon Lewellen as outstanding members of the Latin club at Broad Ripple high school at a meeting this week. Officers elected at ‘the meeting were Miss Wright and Gladys Hill,
Ruth Jacobs, scribe; Gilbert Kett, quaestor, and Suzanne Sharp, praetor. Miss Elinor Randall is faculty sponsor of the club.
Miss Patricia Hoback, a sophomore at Broad Ripple high school was named the school's champion speller. this_ week after winning a series of tests held at the school.

By Seripps-Howard Newspapers NEW YORK, March 5.—Airlines are beginning to “go the railroads one better” as rapid inauguration of air freight business proceeds throughout the country. Railroads have had to depend upon freight and express for profit. Passenger carrying has not been profitable. Airlines not only have proved that passenger carrying by air can be made profitable but now are engaging in air freight in a big way. And they are simplifying the process. A good example is the greatly simplified coast-to-coast air freight system now being operated by United Air Lines. After three years of incessant study and experimenta= tion, United has “knocked into a cocked hat” many of the carriedover traditions of railway freight. No Classification
For instance, there are no complicated “classifications” of freight as United looks at it. Everything goes on the basis of how much it weighs, whether it's rare China dishes, silk pajamas or solid machinery. For the average shipper this comes as a welcome reliéf from the complicated billing devices used by surface transport. To ship any article of merchan-
