TWO IN THE DARK

"At a dismal pre-dawn hout dusing the mid

February blizzard a lady farm dweller telephoned a Southeastern official at his city

residence and excitedly asked how soon her’

electric light service would be restored. She admitted it was a wild night because the heavy wind hid torn off a bara door. “Please excuse me a moment while I get a candle”, said the power man, "'so that I can

~ see to properly write down your name and

address for immediate attention”. “Why do you need a candle in the city?” asked the lady. “Because my apartment, in fact this entire part of the city, has been without lights for several hours”, was the true reply. “This storm is bad everywhere, I imagine”. “Well, in that case”, continued the customer, “I'm sorry I bothered you, especially at this hour of the night. I'm sure you'll'do your best”. The rural lady's service was restored by daylight.
