Police Officer Here, Dies
William R. Fischer, formerly a policeman here 25 yeats, died Saturday in his home at North Vernon. He was 55, . Services will be held in Moore mortuaries Peace chapel at 1:30 p. m, Wednesday. Burial will be in Washington Park. Mr. Fischer, born in Mason City, Ill, was a sergeant with the Indianapolis police force and had driven the emergency car, had been on squad car duty and had worked in the policesrecord room. He went to North Vernon to live after his retitement six years ago. { Survivors are his wife, Freda Wilson Fischer; a son, F. Wesley Fischer, Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Verla Carlstedt, Mrs. Wilma Bowles and Mrs. Betty Hunter, Indianapolis; four “ brothers, ' Fred Fischer, Crawfordsville; Paul, Leigh and Connelly Fischer, and a sister, Mrs. Mazie Mattson, Indianapolis.
MRS. RUBY FRANCES KIRBY Rites for Mrs. Ruby Frances Kirby were to be held at 10 a. m. today in the Montgomery Mortuary by Dr. C. W. Atwater, pastor of First Baptist church, of which she was a member. Burial was in ‘Crown Hill. Mrs. Kirby was at one time a member of the Kentucky BState Board of Missions of the Baptist church. 8he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Irene Scalf, Indianapolis, and a sister, Mrs. H. P. Spencer, Chicago.
MRS. CATHERINE KOERS Rites for Mrs® Catherine Mary Koers will be conducted at 9 a. m. Wednesday in St. Philip Neri church. Burial will be ‘in St. Joseph's. Mrs. Koers, 635 N. Oxford st. died yesterday in her home at the age of 53. She had been a resident of Indianapolis 47 years, She was a member of St. Philip Neri church and the church Altar society. She is survived by her husband, Herman H. Koers; four sons, Raymond Arthur Koers, 8. Sgt. Henry B. Koers, serving in Martinsburg, W. Va., Pfc. Vernon F. Koers, serving in Japan, and Gilbert J. Survivors include a son, -Dwight R. Hiner, Indianapolis; a grandson, Maj. James R. Hiner, who has just returned from the Philippines, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Barth, Mattoon, Ill; Miss Mary Yost, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Pearl Malargic, Noblesville. Another son, Charles A. Hiner, died in September, 1044.
