[Pastor i Wife will Fly To Visit Honduras Mision
By EMMA RIVERS MILNER Times Church Editor Dr, Frederick R: Darles and Mrs, Daries will fly to Honduras in Central America next week bringing to a climax u dramatic experience covering 25 years! . They will visit the Rev. and Mrs. Harold Auler who were missionaries from here to San Pe|dro Sula, Honduras, in 1921. There- | by hangs the tale. Last year when the Zion Evanand Reformed church marked the 25th anniversary of Dr. Daries’ pastorate, the Rev. Mr. Auler came here for the event. Among other things, Zion church presented Dr. Daries and his wife
with a check specifying that part (of it was to be spent on a trip this year, if possible, to Honduras to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Aulers on the Latin-American | field. With the war over, the plan |is materializing. . Former Roommates | The Rev. Mr. Auler and Dr, Da~-
| ries were friends and roommates |in school. It naturally followed that {Dr, Daries should recommend him {when his church was seeking a mis- | stonary to sponsor in Honduras. i Children of Zion, with the aid of {various congregational groups, fur nished support for the missionary. And on a certain day a quarter century ago, the church held a solemn commissioning service for the (Rev, Mr, Auler and his wife, Louise. The Aulers started from “scratch” {in Honduras building up the mis|sion from the very beginning, ac- { cording to Dr. Daries’ description. Next week when Dr. and Mrs. |
sent as
Rev, and Mrs. Harold Auler see churches, schools, medical centers and other institutions inaugurated by the Aulers. Twin sons of the family also have become missionaries to assist their parents, Dr, Richard Auler, at the moment studying tropical diseases at Tulane university, New Orleans, will do medical work while the Rev. Harold Auler follows the same line as his father. Sunday, Dr. Daries will preach on “The Church in Honduras” at both 9 and 10:40 a. m, at Zion church. Tuesday, he and Mrs. Dares will leave by train for New Prleans where they will board a plane for Honduras.

| reparations commission in Europe, it was learned today. Officials here hoped the commission could be operating by April 1. They indicated it probably would be proposed to the Far Eastern commission after it returns from Japan sometime in February. It has not been decided whether the proposed commission should operate under the Far Eastern commission or remain independent. In either case it would represent the 12 nations with a stake in the Pacific. Chances that any big reparations can be collected from Japan are slim. Edwin C. Pauley, special representative for President Truman, doubts whether Japan can even pay any great part of allied occupation costs. Mr. Pauley said a survey of Japanese resources disclosed that the nation had been stripped by the war of virtually every resource except second-hand mac U. 8. will get what it éan from external Japanese assets in neutral and uninvaded territories.

Calling Americans “technically bright, but politically stupid,” he warned against the “hazards” we must endeavor to overcome. One hazard, he said, is the {llusion of geographical remoteness, which gives us the feeling -that we are still “safe.” “We have immediate security, but no ultimate security,” he added, citing the atomic bomb. Another hazard is our inability to see ourselves as “the only wealthy nation in a poor world.” Alluding
