Mrs. Roosevelt is plain anathema to )the type of man who likes to Ink of his wife as “the little woman.” She is a constant challenge to that concept of femininity. : ss » =» SHE'S FASTER on her feet and more. nimble of wit than a good many. of the gentlemen who criticize her. She is as clever a poli-
and her experience has given her an advantage over all but the topnotch men leaders. But her chief advantage, and the one which most enrages the male tribe, is a quality which few women possess—a complete lack of awe at man. She never appears wonderstruck at his superior mentality, nor overwhelmed by his logic, simply because it is masculine. ® = =» AND I THINK the one big thing wrong with the world is the general quailing of women vefore the soit’s a natu ral consequence of centuries of subservience Since the beginning of time, the woman of the tribe has bad to court man’s approval or suffer. If she didn’t cater to his whims she didn't eat. If she didn't obey shé was beaten. All her gains were made py devious means, and millions of modern women schooled in this concept are still unable to trust thei: own judg: ment. They can’t be persuaded ‘tc helieve that their ideas may be just as good and perhaps sounder than those 1 men. They've hao the sentimentalism scorned, and their softer qualities sneered at until they no lenger have faith in the best tha % in them h If Mrs. Roosevelt dislodges this foolish mistrust, she will go down in history as one of the greatest bene
factors of her sex.
