John A. DeGrief, 34, of Indianapolis, died today in his room at the Washington hotel. Mr. DeGrief is the son of Fred J. DeGrief of 225 E. Fall Creek blvd., local superintendent of the Nickel Plate R. R. A former ticket clerk at the Bus terminal and the Lafayette railroad station, he is survived by a son, Ashton, and a daughter, Dianne, of Logansport,

MISS DELLA SWAILS Miss, Della Swails, a resident of Indianapolis 35 years, will be buried this afternoon at Lebanon. Miss Swails, who was 62, died Tuesday in her home, 17 N. Sherman dr. She was a native of Bridgeport. Survivors include her father, J. W. Swalls of Lebanon; five brothers,

WILLARD H. GRAY Services for Willard G. Gray, 302 N. State ave, a retired Pennsylvania railroad conductor, will be held at 3 p. m. today in Moore Mortuaries Peace chapel. Burial will be in Washington Park cemetery. Mr. Gray, who was 63, was a native of Switz county. A former vice president of the Brotherhood eof Railroad Trainmen, he was a member of Broadway Baptist church, the 101 Men's Bible class, Englewood Masonic lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and I. O. O. F. lodge.

JUDGE DEFENDS SON IN AUTO COLLISION

Two youthful pedestrians escaped | injury last night when they were knocked to the pavement in a collision of two automobiles which police later reported as a “hit and run” case. . According to police, a car with license issued to Judge Mark W. Rhoads of juvenile court, collided with one driven by Edmund W. Martin, 17, of 2027 N. Delaware st., at Fairfield ave. and Watson rd. - Jack Mills, 12, of 4706 Broadway, and Walter Mercer, 13, of 4533 Carrollton ave, were knocked to the pavement when the cars spun following the collision. Neither was hurt. Police said the car with the license issued to Judge Rhoads left the scene of the accident. Judge Rhoads denied this. Sgt. Otis Tyner of the accident prevention bureau was to investigate the crash today. Judge Rhoads said that his son, Mark Rhoads Jr. 16, was driving the car last night and was returning from a basketball game with some friends when the accident oc-

He sald that his son started to make a left turn off Fairfield ave. and in doing so hooked bumpers with the other car. He said his son stopped at the intersection, talked to the two boys who were knocked down and found they were unhurt. He said his son was acquainted with one of the boys. According to Judge Rhoads his son then came on home and told him of the accident. Judge Rhoads said he immediately went to the homes of the two boys to see if they were injured and found that both were unhurt. He sald there was no damage to his car.

Governor Gates, Lt. Gov. Richard T. James and Republican state committee Chairman William E. Jenner today headed a list of Lincoln Day dinner speakers scheduled throughout Indiana the week of Feb. 12. Lincoln Day dinners—sponsored by the GOP statd” committee—were expected to have special significance in political circles this year as the party readies itself for the 1946 elections. MRS. REBECCA TULEY | DIES HERE AT AGE 83

Mrs. Rebecca Tuley, died today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William J. Stevens, 1140 Medford. She was 83. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fuller funeral home. Burial will be at Chrisney,! Ind. Survivors, besides Mrs. Stevens, are two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Strickland and Mrs. Mary Adams, and two sons, Frank and Karl Tuley.

What is needed is used clothing for both winter and summer wear. ‘Although clothing need not be in perfect repair, it must be useful to the people who will receive it. All types of washable garments should be washed before they are given to the collection, but need not be ironed.
