Torsten Ralf Will Be Heard With Symphony.

Torsten Ralf, Swedish tenor of the Metropolitan Opera Co. will make his first appearance with an American symphony ofchestra at 8:30 p.m. today and 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Murat. Soloist with Fabien Sevitzky and the Indianapolis Symphony, Mr. Ralf will sing excerpts from Wagner and arias by Mozart and Handel. His only previous American tour was 20 years ago, when he was a tenor ‘in the Stockholm university chorus during his student days. The coast-to-coast American tour. of the Stockholm chorus did not include

public interest in the week day/Indianapolis, he says.

Five Brothers, All Tenors The youngest of five brothers, all tenors, Mr, Ralf has been decorated with the “litteris et artibus” medal, Sweden's highest artistic award. After a brilliant career in European opera, he made his Metropoltign debut as Lohengrin two months ago. Orchestral numbers on the weekend’s program will include Tchaikovsky’s “Marifred” symphony and selections Wagner's “Tristan and Isolde” and “Die Meistersinger.” Reservations for either concert may be obtained at the Murat box office, which opened at 9 a. m. today and will open at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

ARREST DANCER IN $46,000 GEM THEFT

CHEYENNE, Wyo. Jan. § (U. P.). —Elmer Maddox, slender, 34-year-old New Yorker whose ballet dancing aspirations led him into the shadowy halls of big-time crime, was held here today in the theft of $50,000 worth of jewelry at a New York penthouse Christmas party. Maddox, caught in a westward flight with $46,000 worth of precious stones in his possession, admitted the theft. The loot, topped off by a harvest moon broach ‘studded with 113 glittering diamonds, was stolen from the home of Mrs. Ruth Young, 36-yedr-old New York widow on the night of Dec. 33. “I must have been crazy,” Maddox groaned.

Pinchick, acclaimed as the world’s greatest cantor, will be heard in recital at 8:30 p. m. tomorrow at Eirshbaum Community center, The first of ve -distinguished Jewish artists to be presented this year by the Jewish Cultural committee of the Jewish Community Center association, Cantor Pinchick will be introduced by Theodore Dann, president of the center.
