By HARVEY HARRIS ‘For most citizens, the giving of presents is confined to a period of two or possibly three days a year—
But to the State Conservation department, the job of giving is a 365-day-a-year task. Or at least it will be starting Jan. 1. . On that date, for the second time in the history of Indiana, permanent free hunting and fishing Iicenses will be validated for some 300,000 veterans of wars dating back to the Civil period of strife. (Husband and wife brawls are, of course, excluded.) The issuing of the new permanent free permits is’ a portent of new things to come in Indiana outdoor sports, the Conservation department believes. Annually, the state issues approximately 450,000 to a half-mil-lion paid licenses. The new permits combined with paid passes should swell the hunting and fishing attendance mark to a cool 750,000. That's one-fifth of the state according to 1940 census figures. With such a barrage of hunting
have skyrocketed. The number Jumped 12 times this year in Johnson county -over the mark set in 1943, for example. Other counties
