Services for Joseph Davis Sr., 2802 W. 61st st., will be held at 1:30 p. m.

A native of Thorn Grove, Tenn, he had been a resident here since 1915. He served as a ticket clerk for the Indianapolis Union railways. Survivors include his wife, Sally; a son, Joseph J. Jr.; his mother, Mrs, Eva Davis, Frankfort; three stepdaughters, Mrs. William Swan, Indianapolis; Mrs. Frank Regan, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Arthur Brown, Dayton, O.; a stepson, Paul Miller, St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Detrick, Springfield, O., and a brother, Harry H. Davis, Knoxville, Tenn. :

Col. A.W.Meehan Listed As Dead

Missing since Nov. 16, 1942, Col. Arthur W, Meehan was declared officially dead by the war department in a letter to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. 8. 8. Clement, 115 8. Belmont ave.

Col. Meehan was stationed at Hickam field, Oahu, T. H., at the time of the Jap raid on Pearl Harbor. He was lost when starting on a hombing mission over New Britain, A graduate of West Point, he had attended Indiana university and was graduated from Technical high school. He was a scout for the academy’s football team and while a cadet was a member of the team himself. He was a former employee of the sports department of the Star. Col. Meehan's wife and two daughters now live at Newburgh, N. Y., Mrs. Meehan'’s home before her marriage.

Missing in action since Jan. 7, 1045, Sgt. John (Jack) Clarke, formerly employed in the circulation

department of The Times, has been declared officially dead by the war department. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael FP. Clarke, 26228 Allen ave. Sgt. & Clarke entered the § service three years ago this month. He was with the

Sgt. Clarke 14th armored division and was killed in France. He went overseas. in October, 1944, and was a graduate of Technical high school. Survivors besides his parents are

five brothers, the Rev. Thomas Clarke of Evansville, William R., Joseph L., Prancis E. and Paul V. Clarke, all of Indianapolis; and four sisters, Sister Marillac of the St. Thomas hospital in Tennessee; Sister Mary Joseph of St. Joseph's hospital in Chicago; Mrs. Adolph Price, and Miss Patricia Clarke, both of Indianapolis. His flancee, Miss Eileen Sellmeyer, also survives. A memorial mass will be held at 9 a. m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic church wi brother, the Rev., ducting the ‘services.
