Now, 50 years later, that church

is celebrating its golden jubilee services. It has achieved fourth | place among all the Christian | churches of the brotherhood, “ first in the state, and a near top rank in| Bible school attendance within its 50 years. . A. L. Orcutt, a minister and Christian worker in the city, was called to help in the movement of , organizing the church. Elders and

deacons were elected and he was)

asked to continue as the minister of the young church. Build New Church With enlarging congregations the quarters used to house the church

became crowded and in 1897 a new

building was dedicated. Since that time growth has been phenomenal. ‘In 1913 the present annex was dedicated. The Men's class building was constructed in 1929. The parsonage was dedicated in 1924. In 1922 the community hall was built, the eustodian’s home was moved to the rear and the present heating plant erected. Englewood owns the largest piece of real estate of any Protestant church in Indianapolis, valued at $100,000.
