{Amecican Education Week Being Observed.

THASDAY

Technical high school has declared “open house” Thursday in observance of American Education

program production, announced today. , The program schedule will include an address by R. D. Beckmann, fleld service technician for General Motors, on “What We Have Learned About Jet Propulsion” and a series of departmental displays and discussions. September beginners and their parents will be welcomed at a dinner to be held in the lunchroom at 5:45 p. m., after which a forum and panel discussion will occur. Members of the panel are: C. E. Teeters, vice principa¥; Harold Walter, director of guidance; Miss Gertrude Thuemler, dean of girls, Mrs. V. L. Orem, parent representative; Miss Edith Allen, freshman conference teacher, and Miss Joan Bryant, pupil representative. Open house will be observed from 7-8:15 p. m., followed by the ninth Fall Music Festival under the direction of J. Russell Paxton. Freshman parents will be honor guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Buchanan, 2606 E. 13th st., will present a large, silk Amcrican flag to the school at an all-school assembly Thursday in memory of their son, Vernon C. Buchanan, who was killed on Luzon,

Maj. John M. Usow, husband of { Mrs. Ella Mae Usow, 4009 Central ave. received the bronze star for meritorious service in the Mediterranean theater. : As one of the pioneer neuropsychiatrists in that theater, Maj. Usow personally treated & majority of ‘the psychiatric casualties evacuated from the Tunisian front. Most of the patients weré returned to useful duty in the theater. In addition Maj. Usow was résponsible for the establishment of ‘the first medical board for the patients. Maj. Usow is now chief of section of the neuropsychiatric regi-
