U.S., Britain Join in Study Of Palestine

WASHINGTON, Nov. 13 (U, P). <-President Truman announced today that the American government had “acceded” to a British suggestion for establishment of a joint Anglo-American committee of inquiry to examine the Palestine problem. At. the same time, the President made public a letter he sent to Prime Minister Clement Attlee on Aug. 31 asking admission of an additional 100,000 Jews into Palestine a suggestion which Attlee rejected. In this letter the President said the “main solution” of the Palestine problem and the relief of many Jewish refugees in Europe lay “in the quick evacuation of as many as possible of the - non-repatriable Jews, who wish it, to Palestine.”
