By CHARLES P. ARNOT United Press Staff Correspondent WARSAW, Oct. 30 (Delayed).— { Pree trade with the rest of the world is out of the question for Poland for at least another five years. That is the opinion of Dr- Stefan Jedrychowski, Polish minister of shipping and foreign trade. The reason, he believes, is because national reconstruction will require ! the nation to import far more than | she exports. | The youthful minister, a former lawyer and economics professor, said at a press conference that failure to maintain rigid government control over Poland's foreign commerce might force the country to become an exporter against its will “Our situation is somewhat desperate right now,” he explained. “We must import everything possible in order to get the country back on its feet. If we permitted free trade, we might find ourselves g bacon and hams, which we need desperately ourselves.” Importing Meat For example, Jedrychowski said it would be at least five years before Poland could resume exports of its [ Tainous bacon ¥nd hams. He point |ed out that meat is being imported | from Denmark and that even paper, | which Poland exported before the | war, now has to be bought abroad. The minister said, however, that trade agreements already were being negotiated with Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Romania and Hungary, and that he hoped to negotiate similar pacts soon with the uated. States and Britain. | He suggested that American and | British businessmen who want to {reopen trade dealings with Poland | communicate with government-ap-proved Polish agencies which have been authorized to conduct foreign
