Movie Holds Novel Twist

Showing at Circle.

Cengered around the lives of a New England family and tinged

murder-mystery, “The Strange

at the Circle, has the shocking twist that maybe crime does pay. Uncle Harry, played by George Sanders, is Harry Quincey of a long lide bf Quinceys, who lives in a small’ town with his two Quincev sisters in the old Quincey house. They live the proper life in the little proper town with lovely Lettie (Geraldine Fitzgerald) playing the hypochondriac, jealously caring for her brother Harry and unmercifully tormenting the other sister, Hester (Moyna Macgill). Love-Angle Develops Life runs smoothly until Deborah {Ella Raines) blitzes into Harry's life, bringing him a breath of refreshed thinking, unbinding the ties of time and family that held him beneath the thumb of drudgery, The inevitable love-arigle develops and Uncle Harry decides to become a family man. .* But Lettie has other plans. She begins her campaign to keep Harry !home, she connives, she plans, and {fakes heart attacks. Both young {ladies beguilingly try to charm {Harry away, but Lettie succeeds and {Deborah walks out. Facifig a loveless life of solitude {Harry finally realizes his sister's imotives, anu the smoothly-moving {plot take on the sinister colors of {hate and murder, almost the perfect srime. But the wrong person is murdered and the picture begins to hint of a conventional murdermystery ending, But it is the finale that makes the picture unique; it is the finale that leaves one stunned a few seconds. It's almost another Miracle )f Morgan's Creek, with a sombre New England touch adding intrigue.
