Two and Half Hours.

By MILDRED KOSCHMANN Blackstone and his show of 1001 wonders kept a capacity audience of children and grownups fooled for almost two and a half hours at English's last night. The hocus-pokus man, who put on an abbreviated version of the same show at Keith's about a year ago, pulled about every trick out of his sleeves “and ott. of the air that you could think of. And when the majority of the audience left the theater, they hadn't even begun to figure out how he had fooled them. A .few specta~ tors down in the front rows, who, in« served as Blackstone's guinea pigs a number of times, claimed they could see wires hanging from the ceiling of the stage for the Hindu rope trick and a couple of others. But, on the whole, they were completely bailled, too.

Frees Self, Takes Watches About a. dozen men lined up on the stage (they weren't part of the show) and watched a fellow spectator tie Blackstone's hands together with a rope that you'd think it would be impossible to untie. But

some time or other the old magician managed to take two of the men’s watches and get untied as fast as you can say “scat.” The handkerchief that becomes alive is another one of his best tricks, He takes an ordinary man's
