Breakfast Orange halves. Ready-to-eat cereal with raisins. Cinnamon toast. Luncheon Shirred eggs on tomatoes with cheese sauce (see recipe). Whole wheat toast. Carrot sticks. Chilled Concord grapes. D ner \ Salmon and cottage cheese loaf, Lyonnaise potatoes. Braised squash, Pumpernickel, Peach pie. Milk to drink: Three c. for each child; 1 e¢. for each adult. One ration point used today. » - ND
Shirred eggs on tomatoes with cheese sance: Kggs: Four thick slices of tomato, % c. finely chopped onion, 1 tbsp, butter, 3% tsp. salt, 4 eggs, 2 tsps. cream, Sauce: Two tbaps. butter, 2 tbsps, flour, 1 ¢. milk, 1% c. grated cheese, % tsp. salt. Place slices of tomato in four individual greased custard cups. Sprinkle 1 tbsp. of onion on each. Dot butter over the tops and sprinkle with salt. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 10 mins. Break an egg into each cup trying to center the unbroken yolk. ‘Over each yolk drop a half tsp. of cream to keep the yolk from shriveling. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 15 mins, To make cheese sauce, melt butter in a saucepan, Blend in flour. Add milk gradually, stirring smooth after each addition, Cook over low heat, stirring gradually, stirring smooth after each addition. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thick. Remove from heat, stir in cheese and salt and pour oven shirred eggs. Serve eggs in their cups, Serves 4.

“Flying Down to Iwo” will be the topic discussed by C. Walter MecCarty Tuesday when he addresses the Woman's Society of Christian Service, Central Avenue Methodist church, Mr. McCarty 1s general manager of the Indianapolis News. The talk will be at 1:45 p. m. in the church parlor, Dr. ¥. Marion Bmith will conduct a study class on “The Bible as a Living Book” at 11:45 a. m, Members of circle 5 will be in * charge of the 12:30 p. m. luncheon. A musical program will be given by Mrs. Marion Thomas preceding Mr. . McCarty’s talk. The devotions will be led by Mrs. Smith. Mrs, Gustavus B. Taylor is the program chairman.
