Woman's Viewpoint— ‘Dreary Life For Women Who Are Vain’
By MRS. WALTER FERGUSON Seripps-Howard Staff Writer LIFE GROWS pretty dreary for ‘the woman who is in love with herself—which makes the gift of beauty a dubious heritage. The kind of beauty we put on, ourselves, is often better for us than the glamor nature provides, because we seldom get so set up about it, ; During the pre-war years many women occupied themselves almost exclusively with attending to their charms when young, working to keep them during middle age, and whining over their loss after old age arrived, Could there be a lower low: in living? Because nobody loses her looks with such dismay as the beauty, the trite old maxim “handsome is as handsome does” is still a good one. There is disillusion ahead for the girls who believa that their chief aim is to glorify themselves, We should be very grateful, of course that we are in an era when {its possible to look younger than {our years, when complexions, hair {and figure can be doctored so as to disguise many signs of age. But to every woman comes the moment
imajor evils—wrinkles or stoutness.
