BUREAU CONDUCTING U. 3. YOUTH SURVEY

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 (U, PJ), ~The federal children’s bureau yesterday began a survey to find out what 1s happening to the nation’s 2,000,000 youngsters, 14 to 18 years old, who have lost their war jobs. The bureau said that reports were contradictory as to whether substantial numbers have returned to school or found other jobs. It said it feared that unless steps were taken to assure educational and job opportunities for these young people, the situation “was heading up into something like that in the depression years.” The bureau also announced it was going to work immediately on the recommendation for the survey which was made by a committee of trade union women during a twoday meeting here. It expects to have a preliminary report by De-
