.. WASHINGTON, Sept. 28—Servfcemen just returned from overfeas have sent in the following gq tions: ; :
Q—1 am a warrant officer and have been in Europe for more than a year. My brother is a flight offi~ cer ‘who has been in service less than I have; but he is getting out and I.am not. - We both have more than enough points: How can you account for this? *"A~The only explanation is that you are doing work which is still eonsidered ‘a military necessity. Such work as contract termination atid renegotiation is still considered esséntial enough to keep men in the service.’ Q—The army has fold us a lot about re-enlisting. I wouldn't mind it so much, but I would hate to go in for the full three years. Is it possible to enlist for a shorter time? A—Congress is now considering a hill which would permit enlistments for a year, but it has not been passed. Q-What about officers who are eligible for discharge on the point system who might want to stay on active duty? What would ‘be the condition of such duty? : A—OQOfficers eligible for discharge under the point system who want to stay on active duty will be required to sign the following statement: “Regardless of any eligibility which I may have now, or in the future under Readjustment Regulations, T elect irrevocably to con-

six months, unless sooner relieved.” Q-—My son writes from overseas that it will probably be a long time before he can get home because he is working on disposing of surplus property there. Does that mean he might not get back by next February, which is the time set by the army for his outfit to. get back? A—That work might keep him in Europe longer than the February deadline.
