Cigarets Like Cash in Europe

LONDON, 8ept. 27 (U, P).—~ The cigaret has replaced natienal currencies as the primary monetary standdrd in mo§t European countries, Economist Paul Einzig sald in a dispatch written for the financial monthly, “The Banker.” Einzig said that in most coun~ tries on the continent cigarets ‘have become the only medium of

exchange with sufficient public

acceptance to be called a national

currency. The economist said hoarders have been piling up secret stocks of cigarets for years and that the trend has heen accentuated since the allied armies restricted sales in the liberated European countries.
