Singer's G. I. Morale-Boosting Trip Helped Her
NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (U. P.).— Singer Jane Froman dropped her crutches on the floor and said her “morale-boosting” trip to Europe had done her so much good she was walking “almost like real” for the | first time in almost four years.
“The idea was that I should do + Scae good entertaining troops in Europe,” she said yesterday at a press conference. “Seems like it worked both ways.” She returned from the fourmonth trip last Wednesday. the first she had made since the 1llfated one of February, 1942, ended abruptly at Lisbon when the Yankee Clipper in which she was flying crashed. Her right leg still is in a brace as a result of the serious inJuries she suffered. “It was wonderful to see the reaction to my leg,” she sald. “When I walked out on the stage and dropped my crutches they cheered and yelled.”

P.).~— Skating star Sonja Henle hinted to~ day that she and millionaire sportsman Dan Topping II might be divorced after he returns from overseas marine corps service, “Dan is to arrive in San Francisco on Oct. 10,” Miss Henle said as she left for New York, “and we will discuss the matter then, I don’t want to say anything prematurely out of fairness to him.
