Quicksilver Prices Sinking
NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (U. P.).— Quicksilver price in the local market had another sinking spell today, dropping $5 to $93 a 76-pound flask, compared with a war-time high price of $200 hit a year ago. Earlier this year the metal sold around $180 a flask, Dealers attributed the continued weakness on a possible relaxation in the tight supply ¢position of some major industrial chemicals because of labor difficulties with a resultant slow-down in production schedules, Termination of the government battery program, pressure of Mexican metal on the market, along with competition with Spanish metal has turned the situation into a buyers’ market, trade quarters commented.

jobs of this war. Soon you'll be taking on other jobs ~building good lives for yourselves and your families. Twenty-five years ago your fathers and mothers were tackling the same task. Their hope, like yours, was to win security and a fair share of the things that make life worth while,
They looked to the railroads to deliver these good things... to carry raw materials from mines, forests and farms , . . to distribute the finished products of factories. In short, it was up to the railroads to provide the low-cost delivery’service vital to American . mass production. . : To the Illinois Central this was a grave responsi: bility. And so, 25 years ago this month, the railroad decided that its operations should be an open book + + « that the people along its lines should know the “hows” and “whys” of running a great railroad. On September 1, 1920, the Illinois Central began telling its story in local newspapers on its lines. The story appeared in the advertising columns, but it was ot Saying sell. It was, instead, an invitation 30 get acquainted «i wto know the Illinois Central its people better . . . to be friends and neighbors, * a for the common good.
