WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 (U. P.) ~The end of the Pacific war will bring with it no immediate abandonment of the
government’s control over wages.
The present policy will *’
be liberalized, officials said,
but some form of government wage control must be exercised and civilian goods are again on the market in abun-
dance and the danger of inflation is past. High government officials have long advocated liberalization of the present wage ‘freeze” within a few months after the close of hostilities. They believe that the country must continue to “hold the line” but that same wage relief must be granted if the public's buy=ing power is to be maintained at its present level during the recon= struction period.
