“McMahon made public in his

gram which he had sent the President. The message proposed a United Nations scientific council to sombat the disease. He asked President Truman to sugges$ its formation at & meeting
of allied ministers of education in London, Nov. 1. His telegram asked for “the formation of a group similar in scope and ability to that formed to work on the atomic bomb, and to provide for a central, co-ordinated direction of such a group to the end that the united energies of the scientists of the world be com=bined in an effort to discover the causes and cures for the deadly disease of mankind.”
