SUGGESTS SUBSIDY FOR COAL MINERS
WASHINGTON, Aug. 8 (U, P) Rep. Edith Nourse Rogers, (R Mass), today recommended subsidies for coal miners as a“spur to coal production. Mrs. Rogers said in an interview that she had sent her proposal to Economic Stabilizer John W. Snydel The subsidies would be reflected in the take-home pay of miners. The congresswoman warned that unless coal output is increased the United States faces a cold winter and a drop in war production, Her proposal coincided with a report by the government that -reserve stocks of soft coal are 11. 962,000 tons less than they were a year ago and will not be sufficient to provide adequate fuel for the coming winter,
