SAILOR GIVES $1000 TO ORPHANS HOME
MUNCIE, Ind. July 26 (U. P).— A discharged navy veteran kept faith with his dead sailor buddy yesterday. Robert Bishop, the veteran, donated $1000 to the Mooseheart home in Illinois through the Muncie Moose lodge as a provision of a pact made between him and another sailor overseas. Bishop said that he and Wilson Elks, both orphans, entered into an agreement whereby each would pay $1000 to their former orphanage if they both returned from overseas duty. ' In case one failed to return, the other man was obligated to make both contributions. Elks was killed in the battle of Tarawa. Bishop sald that he already had given $1000 to his former home, a children’s home maintained by the United American Mechanics lodge at Tiffin, O. Elks was reared by the Illinois home to which Bishop donated the cash yesterday.

Nazis make the fatal mistake of dropping in at one of those roadside motels. ; i That's all brother. And it ain't the cooking. It’s Warner Bros.’ plot. What happens in this plot happens like fury at the Lyric this week under the title of “Escape in the Desert.” Heroes .and villains throughout sling firearms and dirty looks. But the sheriff gets the Nazis in the end, and thereby hangs a tale. These Nazis flee unscathed from & prison camp in the Arizona desert. But lives there a man who could escape unscathed from a motel? Hardly. In the course of the film, this particular motel does business like a general store on Saturday night. First comes Philip Dorn, a refugee from the Dutch air force. He's taken in tow by Gramps, the motel manager who suspects he’s one of
