With enough battle ribbons and medals to put a five-star general in! the shade, the personnel of the 316th troop carrier command squadron will arrive at Pope field, Ft. Bragg, N. C., today. Eight battle - stars and three presidential citations attest the worth of these sky warriors who fed supplies to Montgomery as he chased Rommel, the outfoxed desert fox, across Africa. For their part in chucking the Nazis there they were honored with their first presidential citation. The others came for action in Sicily and the flying of troops into the great assault of D-day. Individual Medals But their work was not alone the bringing of death to the enemy. They gave life to many an allied soldier. On the blazing battle front in Africa, the 316th developed the air evacuation of wounded. This contribution to the medical side of war has meant life to countless thousands who needed the detdiled care that could be given only in base hospitals. Individual members of the squadron hold numerous citations for duty under fire and either late to{day or early tombrrow six of the unit will receive the Croix de Guerre from the French governThe presentation will be made by members of the French embassy in Washington. First in Toto Return
