ITALIAN NAVY TURNS ON KING

Specifically, the republican offigers hope to rid the navy command of such men as Adm. Raffiele De Courten, former Italian’ naval attache in Berlin, who has remained minister of marine in six successive governments at the insistence of the British. Fascist-Minded Duke Adm. Giuseppe Fioravanzo, a man whom De Courtens appointed head of the purge commission, 18 himself a former Fascist. He was the last speaker on radio Rome before its capture by American troops last year. The former King Aimone of puppet Croatia, now the Duke of Aosta, ig still an admiral in the Italian fleet, although he is the most Fas-cist-minded member of the Italian royal navy. Although not a single Fascist has yet been removed from the Italian navy, several Republican midshipmen have been confined in naval fortresses for refusing to take the path of loyalty to King Victor Emmanuel, still required before anyone can be commissioned as an officer.
