A trail blazer in the work of bacteriology Dr. Fergison was one of the most widely talked of men in Indiana in 1896, when as city sanitarian and bacteriologist, he began a fight to obtain sanitary drinking water for Indianapolis. ’ During this typhoid epidemic and another in 1904 he crusaded;on the controversial theory that impure drinking water caused typhoid.
Enforced Quarantine
- The outgrowth of his work was a system of scientifically-tested city water, filtering units and adequate water facilities. . Other pioneer medical theories which were adopted through Dr. Ferguson's work included enforced quaranfine and a system of reporting contagious disease cases. Dr. Ferguson was born in Indianapolis, the son of Norval Wilson and Julia: Rexford Ferguson. He received his doctor's degree from the old Indiana Medical LPR we TY the Mears medal for work in obstetrics. Emergency Appointment. _ apolis board of public health in 1885, he became superintendent of city hospital 4 year later. Ralph Bellamy is a Sail Hie ried artist into whose home comes | the neurotic Miss Baxter as Evelyn Heath. A woman who claims to know how to get what she wants, she schemes effectively enough to bring the Bellamy household to the brink of disaster.
